Sirs, what must I do to be saved?

Sirs, What Must I Do To Be Saved?

Sirs, what must I do to be saved? was originally written and published as an SLT Podcast episode… So, please just keep reading and you will see what I mean.

Hello, and welcome to this episode of the Speak Life Today Podcast. I am your host, Felton Thompkins, Gospel Minister and Ambassador for Jesus the Christ our Lord.

Now before we get started with this study, and the episode of the Speak Life Today Podcast… I truly and sincerely urge you to get your bibles ready and available that you may follow along with me as we search the scripture.

And if you don’t have a bible handy…

Well, see if you can find yourself a pen or pencil to jot down these verses because they do have the power to change a life for the better!

We as a people that are sojourning in these United States of America are approaching a time of year that I personally think it to be the best holiday season of the entire year.

It’s a time of holiday cheer, a time of thanksgiving and a time of gift giving for many of us.

And yet it can be and is a time of despair, bitterness, resentment, hopelessness and heartache for many as well.

You know it was my intent to start a (3) three-part study series titled The True Identity Of a Child Of God, but the gentleness and wisdom of God the Holy Spirit reminded me of something very important.

And it is that not all of the listeners that he will draw to this Podcast are saved. And for some of the listeners, it would be like as the saying goes…You’re putting the cart before the horse.

Now, with that being said, if I were to put a title on this episode it would be just as the jailer asked Paul and Silas in Acts 16:30 when he asked:

“Sirs what must I do To Be Saved?

Person with question

Well, the answer to that question is quite simple and life-changing. But before I disclose the answer to this life-changing event…

I believe that it is my duty to walk you through the Word of God that you may see it and hear the voice of God for yourselves.

So, for those of you who have your bibles handy, I want you first to look at a verse of scripture that you will find in the letter that the apostle Paul wrote first to the Church at Rome located in The New Testament…and in the book of Romans Chapter 3 verse-23.

It reads this way

”For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”

Now let me pause here for just a moment to inject some trues here before we go down this road to salvation and healing.

Now understand my dearly beloved, God did not create a sin-sick world from the beginning.

And also please keep in mind that God is all-knowing, God is all-powerful and God is ever-present.

You see when God created the Heavens and the earth and everything that’s in them the bible tells us in Genesis 1:31 “God saw all that he had made and it was very good! (Emphasis is on “very good”).

And seeing that God is all-knowing, all-powerful and ever-present, it was no surprise to him that his creation would turn out to be “very good”.

Which bring me to my next point of truth. “The fall of Mankind”.

You see when God created us out of the dust of the ground and breathed the breath of life into us, He also created within us the innate ability to choose. Or to put it more plainly he-God gave us the inborn or natural ability to choose.

And we (man), chose to believe the lie that Satan spewed out of his mouth and to go against the wisdom and counsel of God.

Now here’s where the Good News of The Gospel Of Jesus Christ come into play, where we find that the Holy Scriptures teaches us that it was Jesus that took upon himself the sins of the whole world through his crucifixion and death on the cross.

See Isaiah 53:5 where these words were spoken: “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him, and with his stripes, we are healed”.

Now it even gets better because after he nailed all of our sins to the cross in his body, he was buried. But the grave could not hold him, and after three days he was raised up from death and the grave for our justification.

See Romans 4:25. Also take a look at Mathew 28:5-7.

Listen I know it seems like a lot to wrap your head and heart around. But I believe that if you are listening to this Podcast episode, It is because God wants you to hear it, and He wants you to take action.

Today is the day of salvation. And God wants to extend this invitation to you personally as he speaks these words into your heart as he says…Come unto me all of you who are weary and loaded down with burdens, and I will give you rest.

Place my yoke on you and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble at heart, and you will find rest for your souls, because my yoke is pleasant and my burden is light.

Now again loved ones the bible states in Romans 3:23 “ that all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.

And in the same book just a few verses before in Romans 3:10 reads, “As it it written: There is none righteous, no, not one.

Now go with me a few chapters forward in Romans 5:12

where the scripture tells us… Wherefore as by one man (and that man the scripture talks about here is Adam).

And yes that would be the same Adam that God placed in the Garden of Eden and commanded him not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

And thus because of his disobedience as the scripture goes on to say: Sin entered into the world, and death by sin: and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.

Beloved ,please stay with me on this. This is probably one of the longest episodes that I will do on The Speak Life Today Podcast and I trust the most crucial in it’s importance.

So turn again with me to Romans 6:23 where the scripture reads; “For the wages (the payment) for sin is death: But listen my beloved… because there is hope!

The Word Of God goes on to say in that same verse: but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Hallelujah!! Glory to the name of Jesus!!

Just a few more verses. Let’s look at Romans 5:8 The scripture reads: “But God commendeth His love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us.

You may be asking yourself, where do I fit into all of this? And the question remains the same; “What must I do to be saved?” I’m glad you’re asking Because Romans 10:9-10 explains it this way. “That if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Verse 10 For with the heart one believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made, resulting in salvation. That’s a good place to praise the Lord our God.

The Word of God goes on to say in the proceeding verses,

“Whoever believes in him

(Jesus) will not be put to shame, and that there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek, (meaning that it does not matter who you are, nor of what you have done)-The same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. And get this my dearly beloved, Romans 10:13 adds a little more spice to the cake and assures us this very thing, “that whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Listen… My sincere prayer

…is that someone out there listening to this episode of TheSpeak Life Today Podcast has earnestly taken the time to follow me on what we in the Church of Jesus Christ know to be as the Romans Road To Salvation. My dear friends contrary to popular belief, as the scripture, admonish us that there is no other name under heaven whereby a man, a woman, a boy or a girl can be saved than that of Jesus Christ. Acts 4:12.

If you are out there, and you know that the Holy Spirit of God is tugging at your heart and beckoning you to come. Well, I beseech you by the mercies of God and invite you to pray this simple yet powerful prayer with me to receive the Lord Jesus into your heart and make him the Lord of your life. Just repeat these words after me. Listen, it doesn’t matter where you are or what you are doing at this time. He will hear you, and he will save you.

Say this…Lord Jesus, I agree with you that I am a sinner. I also admit that I don’t know much about you, or your word. But the bible says, that if I call upon you, I will be saved.

Therefore, Lord Jesus, I am calling and asking you,

to come into my heart, and be the Lord of my life, and save me a sinner, that I may learn, to honor and glorify you, as a new child of God. I pray this in your name Lord Jesus. Amen.

Well If you prayed this prayer with us, the first thing that I want you to do is to tell someone of your new life in Christ. 2nd Find yourself a good bible thumping church of believers to join and follow the Lord in baptism.
